The end game crisis still stomps me into the ground though. The raider fleets will be a lot stronger, but I can generally manage that interaction OK. In the current version, I've been doing a lot better at staying at least equivalent or ahead of the AI empires. I'll build some others in my colonized systems for resource solos, trading hubs, and future anchorages for when I really ramp up fleet capacity. As my border expands, I build a new starbase, re-base my fleet, and dismantle the old one. It gives a defensive bump, has a shipyard for replacements, plus a way to keep fleet upkeep down. I usually end up with 2 or 3 for this function. I've been building starbases at my chokepoints and basing a fleet there. Seeing it go on sale 3-4 months after it comes out? I dunno if it'll happen. I definitely want to grab the Apoc DLC for the next game I start and play through, but unless I can at least get it on sale, it's not happening. Even on sale at $10, I should get more than merely the ability to build megastructures for Utopia. My biggest problem with the DLCs is each one doesn't have enough features to justify the price point. I know it's fair, but it's not gonna stop me from increasing the rate gain of it even more next game. Stuff always just costs so much influence. I think I had more habitats than planets by the end. We each had 400-500k+ worth of fleets rolling around (50 years after hitting alliance 60% occupation win condition), so it's not a surprise. It wasn't really that much of a challenge, but it was good fun.

It ended out pretty well, we had the machine exterminator planets in multiple places that we shredded, and two more separate groups. So I loaded it in single player and manually started some Crises (3). and realized it's a chance to happen past then. We had an alliance with 70% of the galaxy, and by the time the crisis rolled around we waited. We pushed our end-game crisis back an extra 50 years, and it was just waaaay too late. Overall the multiplayer experience is okay, but desyncs on average happened once a night, but it didn't force us to reload. Had it going between me, Alyeska, and another friend.
